Now that I have introduced these names, it might be helpful if I explained who these people are and how they affect you. These people can be defined by one word. Whenever you hear the names Paige Patterson, Al Mohler, John Piper, Wayne Grudem, think SUBMIT.
Submit always means women submitting. Men are never told to submit.
I know nothing about these men personally. This article only refers to them as to how they affect our Southern Baptist churches’ policy regarding women in our homes and in our churches.
Dr. Paige Patterson is the president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. In October 2009 they adopted the Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood – this was an atttempt to squash any women’s movement toward equality. He was one of the authors of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and also on the board of the Council for Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood.
Dr. Al Mohler is the president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. His tentacles are far-reaching and every word he says is clung to by many in the SBC world. His blogsite shows up on almost all Baptists’ blogs. He has an enormous amount of influence. He, along withPaige Patterson, helped author the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, which specifically keeps women from serving as pastors in the SBC churches.
Dr. Wayne Grudem is a council member of The Council on Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood. This council was created solely to define women’s place in the church and home and to combat so-called feminism equality. It created the Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood, so named because it was in Danvers, Massachusetts, where it was adopted, 1n 1988.
Dr. John Piper is a council member of The Council on Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood. He and Dr. Grudem co-authored a book called “Recovering Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood.” This book was reprinted in 2006.
I am sure these Baptist preachers have many other attributes, but these are the ones this blog will concentrate on – the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and the Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood.
